I have noticed there does not seem to be any current public domain versions of Orson Well's The Third Man. Is there a copyright dispute as to ownership or don't the public domain DVD distributors want to sell it any more?

The copyright was renewed and it's outright owned by StudioCanal via the London Films library. Not in the public domain anymore, thankfully.

If $$$ is a concern, Criterion's 2-disc SE (and the upcoming identically priced BluRay from them) is 100% worth the premium price.

Weeeeellllllll...Welles starred in The Third Man. I think we know which film is being asked about...unless, of course, Welles had his hand in some other production.

It's just kinda like saying Gene Kelly's An American in Paris, that's all.

Though, many erroneously assume Welles directed The Third Man. I just read something recently that stated this (can't remember what).
