Coming on November 4th on 4k in the UK from @StudioCanalUK as part of their Vintage Classics line: The Third Man 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition (1949)!

Carol Reed’s celebrated British noir THE THIRD MAN is widely regarded as ‘The greatest British film of all time’. Brilliantly scripted by Graham Greene and set to Anton Karas’ evocative zither score, this justly celebrated classic is further enhanced by Robert Krasker’s Academy Award winning cinematography and Orson Welles in one of his most iconic screen roles.

Holly Martins (Joseph Cotton, Citizen Kane), a naïve writer of pulp westerns, arrives in Vienna to meet his old friend Harry Lime (the incomparable Orson Welles) but finds that Lime has apparently been killed in a suspicious accident. Martins, too curious for his own good, hears contradictory stories about the circumstances of Lime’s death and as witnesses disappear he finds himself chased by unknown assailants. Complicating matters are the sardonic Major Calloway (Trevor Howard, Brief Encounter), head of the British forces, and Lime’s stage actress mistress, Anna Schmidt (Alida Valli). Will Martin’s curiosity lead him to discover things about his old friend that he’d rather not know?

Interesting that they don’t detail the source element.
Restoration details are very rarely given in title announcements - regardless of the publisher. Sometimes restoration details appear in a booklet, accompanying the disc, but I've only seen this on a StudioCanal release in The Ladykillers.

For the 4K restoration for The Third Man, conducted over 10 years ago, StudioCanal made an extensive international search for elements. The restoration process is comprehensively detailed here:

The 2015 blu-ray is indeed a magnificent restoration and I have no doubt that the 4K UHD will render a superb picture, when projected. I don't want such an enormous box though. StudioCanal are releasing a German standard 4K UHD version on November 7th. The German 4K UHD will probably be identical to the UK one, like the case was for the 4K UHD The Conversation.

November 4th seems to be a big release day for classic movies with stuff in the UK.

This film along with Blazing Saddles and North By Northwest are all listed on Amazon.co.uk as being released on November 4th.

You seem to be up on this one.

So, what is/are the restoration source element(s) ?
Also, is this a new restoration or the same as 2015 now released in 4K ?

I have the old Studio Canal Blu-ray that says "stunning new 4K restoration".
Many have complained about the audio on the disc.

Originally, I had no problem with the audio,
but then I realized I had watched it while my ninety-something-year-old father was still alive and used the subtitles.
Later on I spot-checked without the subtitles and found the audio a bit problematic (as in, I would only show the movie on that Studio Canal disc with the subtitles on).

That new set looks great and I'm considering buying it... but I really need to know what the source of this "annotated script" is in the boxset. Is it the actual script, or a cutting continuity?

Used copies of Criterion's 2008 blu-ray are going for between $160 (battered, stained) to $700 (possibly in decent condition).

Well, sellers may be listing them for those prices, but that doesn't necessarily mean anyone is actually buying.

What a bargain! Someone should snap up that $700 copy before it's too late.

I still have the Criterion Blu-ray, and the only way I'm willing to re-buy this is if they release a slimmed-down version of the recent restoration. Don't need the box of pre-trash.

One of my favorite films of all time and will definitely buy the box set. Like that pop-up packaging.

But there's no cuckoo clock!

No guarantee, but StudioCanal tends to sell a non-limited, swag-less edition about four months after the Collector's Edition. At the very least, I know they've done so with Don't Look Now, The Elephant Man, The Ladykillers, The Servant, and The Wicker Man.
