Today, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. Though he first entered the film industry as an actor – notably appearing uncredited in From Here to Eternity (1953) – Joseph Sargent switched gears during the 1950’s and proceeded to work in television for much of the 1960’s. Making his Hollywood directing debut (one that wasn’t a feature length edit of combined TV episodes) with The Hell with Heroes (1968), he alternated between television and feature films during the 1970’s, notably directing films like Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970), The Man (1972), The Night That Panicked America (1975) and MacArthur (1977). However, by far his most enduring work from the decade was his adaptation of the John Godey novel, The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.
