Plus the Flash is not so muscular. I don't see Vin as the Flash at all. Cyclops sure, Flash no way.

Chuck, I agree 100% on the Hulk analysis. Though I have not (nor will) read a script on the film, so I don't know that this is really being changed.

Is everyone basing this change on the teaser? If so, I wouldn't worry about it at all. I think Banner could reflect that opinion while going through a much more complex introspection of his Hulk-half.

Fearing that a part of you may like it can easily be a part of being generally repulsed by the Hulk results...it's just one more aspect of being the Hulk for Banner to be bothered by.

It's presentation in the trailer gives me the sense of that as well.

Now if someone has read a treatment or script that suggest more serious alterations to the story then I would be willing to agree that it's a poor choice for a change.

To me, like Chuck, the essence of the character/book is the key. Marvel especially were books about issues hidden within character stories. Each had issues that their powers forced them to deal with.

Wasn't there even an issue of Fantastic Four where Johnny was going to give it up because a killed imitated him and burnt himself severly. That's the kind of theme that all these books were about.

Isolation, confusion, racism (X-Men), responsibility. SM is a great example of going right after the traditional idea of white hat/good guy/do-the-right-thing morality by depicting the true complexity behind trying to follow that ideal. Luckily that film kept that idea, just like X-Men kept the racism/hated-loners theme.

Looks-wise great, acting skill great, but he so often plays characters with a dark or troubled edge.
Off the top of my head I can't think of a clean cut Pitt character. And CA needs to be sparkling clean, IMO. That was the essence of that character, super good all-American.
It would really piss me off to put the "hip Gen-X dark edge" on that character just to target a demographic. At least Hulk/Banner was emotionally troubled.
But Pitt being a good actor perhaps he could pull it off. He'd spend 6 weeks following Donny Osmond around or something. :)

Hey, something else I just browsed across - a plot summary for X-Men 2 at IMDb. Sounds like what has been rumored. What do you guys think?

The X-Men reunite again as Magneto breaks from jail, and Henry Gyrich is revealed to be alive working with Military Officer Agent Stryker to build Sentinels. The X-Men also recruit 2 new team members, Gambit and Nightcrawler.
Any confirmation? I think it would be great to have Gyrich's death faked by the feds to protect him after the attack, thus enabling him to secretly focus on going after mutants (he would have obvious motivation now).

Moriarty from Ain't It Cool just reviewed what is apparently a very recent X-Men 2 script which didn't feature Sentinels. From what he described in his review, it sounds like the story is inspired by the God Loves, Man Kills graphic novel. Moriarty then went on to rave a great deal about the script, raved about the Hulk, Daredevil, and Fantastic Four movies, and declared that we are living in a Golden Age of Fanboyism ;)

Huh, that's an odd example. Cyclops is a very lean character. That's why they call him "Slim" Summers :)

Yeah, I think James Marsten was the perfect "Slim Summers" in both body build and pretty-boy looks. Vin Diesel!? Are you crazy? :)

Seth,
I think Brad Pitt would be a great choice for CA. Obviously, he'd have to be squeaky clean, but I bet he could do it. CA would be a tough nut to crack, simply because he is SO straightforward and decent. It could be one heck of a great film. Especially if they keep the costume :D CA has an edge, but not necessarily a dark one.
Count me in,
Chuck

All I want to see done in these super hero movies is a concentration on what they do and who they fight. So much time is wasted in these films showing how these superheroes became and got their powers. If they are going to waste the first hour explaining to non fans how they got their powers then they should make the movies 3 hours long for us fans.

Sorry, I screwed up so bad I was even confused by your response for a second. I meant to say Colossus. But my mistake is pretty funny.
"He's way too big to play a thin guy, he'd be better off playing another thin guy (who's already been cast)."

Daredevil looks like the star of some latex porn in that pic!
I came across some Hellboy news over at CHUD.com and this sounds like news that should please fans of the source material. Here's an excerpt:
Check the article for more info. Sounds like I need to catch up on my Hellboy issues!

Just read this from the latest (May 24th) issue of Entertainment Weekly
ReelWorld: News From Hollywood - by Rebecca Ascher-Walsh
PREACHER MAN: The latest actor to suit up for a comic-book role is X-Men's James Marsden, who'd like to play the lead in Tank Girl director Rachel Talalay's independently produced, $20 million adaptation of writer Garth Ennis' DC series The Preacher (which ran for five years). "It's about a guy [who's] struck by lightening while he's preaching a sermom and inherits the power of the word of God," says Marsden. "It's very dark." Marsden is trying to figure out the scheduling, with X-Men 2 due to begin filming in June.

Thanks for the news, Angel. Preacher sound pretty cool.
Here are some tidbits I found at Dark Horizons:
It also looks like the cast for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is filling out nicely:
Allan Quarterman - Sean Connery
Mina Harker - Monica Bellucci
Tom Sawyer - Shane West
Dorian Gray - Stuart Townsend
Captain Nemo - Irfan Khan
Dr. Jekyll - Jason Flemyng
Campion Bond - Richard Roxburgh

I'm not sure Avi Arad has ever said anything that wasn't absurd :)
For the sake of the Preacher movie, I hope Tank Girl was an aberration for Rachel Talalay and not indicative of a serious lack of talent. It would be tragic for Preacher to turn out as horribly as Tank Girl did.
