Hey Forum Members-
I was just reading about film noirs in another thread,
and noticed a mention of
The Strange Loves of Martha Ivers.
There are three versions available on DVD:
One from Image Entertainment,
which looks like this:

One from Laserlight Video (which I know their stuff
is not great, but is not as bad as Madacy),
and one from Parade (Master Movies)
which looks like this:

I had VERY good luck with Parade's copy of
Abbott and Costello's Africa Screams,
but wonder if Image's version of The Strange Love
of Marth Ivers
might be better still.
Anyone know?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
I would definitely get the Image dvd release. It's not bad considering the age of the film but there is some damage to the film elements along with some scratches and specks but the defects didn't last long therefore, they didn't detract from my viewing pleasure. The other release by Laserlight I could only imagine would be worse than what Image's release. This is one of my favorite Barbara Stanwyck film's along with Kirk Douglas's film debut. A very good film noir!

I bought the Image release & I was very disappointed in the transfer. I found it to be very soft & blurry, lacking in detail & not worth the price I paid. It was like watching a VHS copy of the film. I was expecting a lot better considering the company putting it out & the price.
I have never seen the Laserlight release.
