I have a very vague memory of watching "The Silent Service" on television. According to IMDB and other sites, it must have been 1957-1959, and I would only have been 5-7 years old. I don't remember anything specific, so really don't know why I am interested in this-- other than the fact I like submarine stories.

Also, although I could never have remembered this, IMDB tells me that Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelly starred in it.

I also appreciate stories based on fact.

I'd buy this on DVD (along with West Point Story).

Is there any hope?

Regards,

DG

I've only ever heard of the show in Bob Newhart's classic (1960s) stand-up comedy routine "The Cruise Of The USS Codfish" (in which he references the show).

Before my time (though not by much!), but the IMDB entry certainly sounds enticing...
