Rummaging through some stuff I found the shoebox that contains all of the photos, letters, etc of a ex-girlfriend. I have not talked to her in over a year and doubt I ever will again. I was going to toss it, but it felt like I was throwing away years of my memories to. I think im just going to keep it around, unless my future girlfriend or wife has some major objection. What does everyone else do with there shoebox?

Of course, you and your future girlfriend could always make a huge bonfire with the shoebox, if she really has a problem with it. [IMG]

Update. I took out everything she might have wanted and mailed it back to her mother. The rest I threw away. I had't even looked through that stuff in a year and it was only going to cause me more trouble. Thanks for the advice.

My "shoebox" is at my Mom's house .... and my wife is terrified of my Mom .... although she won't admit it.
    It is safe for now!

I'm on the side of Lorelai Gilmore on this one: Keep the box!

My opinion is that any significant other that wants you to erase your past and change who you are isn't worth it. I'd never in my wildest dreams think of telling my wife to toss her old stuff.

Oh this figures, all the pro-shoebox posts come after I have rid myself of the contents. The actual shoebox I still have. [IMG]

No shoebox here. After my wife and I were married, we burned the shoeboxes of our former spouses on the grill. Good riddance!
