"Not only that, but Dishnetwork was kind enough to relieve me of the quandry of choosing between the repeat of The Shield and The Daily Show on Comedy Central. "

Not only that, but they have these things that record shows now.
You can watch one now & one later...

First off, I'd love to hear how I can record The Daily Show tonight off Dishnetwork.

But 9 CST on Tues already has the 'record NYPD Blue, watch L&O SVU' quandry. If they didn't repeat The Shield at 10 CST, I'd have to switch the computer over to antenna and record SVU or Blue to HD with crappy reception.

Hey, forget taping NYPD blue.

Here is the synopsis (insert any air date):

Sipowitz goes to washroom someone follows
Sipowitz sneers

Anyone see the first episode for the 3rd season tonight?

pretty good, I can only wonder where this season is going to go. Being a die-hard Shield fan I can safely say I wasn't disappointed with tonight's premiere.

Gaaah! The VCR cut off the end of the show. I saw everything up to the point that Julian confronted the fired officer in the hallway and didn't get to hear what was said. Was that basically the end of the show?

Julien asked the ex-cop to tell the truth to what he and his co-horts did to him, but the ex-cop declines the offer, and tries to walk by Julien to get to his apartment, but Julian grabs him and puts the ex-cop against the wall face-planted with his right arm held behind him, and Julien says something like "An army beseige me, but my heart won't fear" and then Julien breaks the ex-cop's arm, and leaves. Then we see Cleetus help his girlfriend to buy the car after all. Then we see the black gang do a drive-by shooting at 4 Latinos in front of the arcade (settling the score from Lops being shot earlier, but Vic doesn't know this yet), but one of the Latinos gets away. Then Vic is back at the storage place getting some money. We don't know if Vic is moving the money or using it for his "show" money (since the situation has now been escalated with the drive-by shooting).

Reading that recap from just the last five minutes of the episode from Patrick shows how complex and full of story lines this series really is.

Good start to what promises to be a fast, nail biting season. Much has been set-up in this first 60 minutes and looks like there will be no shortage of tension and trouble around Vic and the crew this season.

They should rename this show "Tightrope" because Vic and the gang spend their entire days walking like they are on a tightrope.

BTW, if the season 3 premiere left off from the season 2 finale, then the only 2 people that looked like their looks changed between seasons were Ronnie (with the beard) and Corinne (longer hair). I didn't think Ronnie could grow a decent looking beard with the skin grafts on his face (unless he had a hairy butt to begin with) :)

Anybody else think Shane is going to get whacked after watching the preview for the rest of the season? He's been pushing it with Vic since last season anyway, he's just not too smart.
Loved the premiere, much better than the Sopranos, although I'm sure the Sopranos will pick up. For some reason it seems like the first episode of any given Sopranos season is kinda slow.
Great time for me on TV though. New episodes of The Shield and The Sopranos.

I for one think that Shane will have to come to terms with his bigotry problem. Either that, or Tavon's gone. And frankly, I just don't see that happening. Definitely a strong episode to start out the season, can't wait for the 14, not 12, more episodes!

Thanks FX for starting the 11pm replay 6 minutes late the Tivo Really appreciated it. Not. Thanks god for Repeats I guess I can't do the Tuesday after NYPD Blue think they did this to screw the Tivo owners?

And I agree with the Synopsis of NYPD of late it really seems like no one has to do any Detective work, they just fib to the perp and he spills it.

I hated it when my TiVo cut off early. I padded it at the end for the rest of the season. Good show, I'm thinking about catching the encore on Friday to rewatch some of what confused me on last night's show. Can't wait till Tuesday.

No doubt about it, The Shield is the best show on right now. The first episode setup a ton of storylines, and it looks like a ton more will be coming in all the time. All the characters are fascinating.

Most directors shy away from shooting in the middle of the day outside, but I love how they take it on and make it look gritty.

The handheld camera work also adds to the tension. The more tense the situation, the more the camera seems to mimic the level of anxiety int the scene. Clearly, one show that when over, leaves you feeling like you were just on the street with Vic and gang.

EPISODE 2 - 3/16

Good episode, lot's going on as usual. As always, Vic is getting hammered at all ends - ex-wife, Shane, and the boss....yet still maintains his cool. Thought I was gonna die when he had to give up the money bag early on - but a wise choice at the moment.

Also liked the lack of commercials until what seemed like the 25 minute mark. Crammed a few extra spots at the end, but it is nice not getting beaten to death with Viagra ads every 10 minutes of an intense show like this.

Next week looks killer...

Chiklis was on O'Reilly last night. O'Reilly was telling him how much of a guilty pleasure the show is (O'Reilly is a fan) because even though Vic is a very bad cop, he sometimes does good things and you have to root for him sometimes (O'Reilly compared him to Tony Soprano). Chiklis did what he always does in interviews about Vic, he did not give his own personal feelings about the character because he does not want to color the audience's view. He simply lets the viewer decide how they feel about the single most contradictory character in the history of police dramas. This was refreshing to me.

The Strike Team spends so much time cleaning up their own messes. It's going to be a lot harder to do with Claudette breathing down their necks.

When Acevada ran down the list of Mackey's bad day, you could tell Mackey wanted to smack him, but Mackey just took it (big picture) to keep the heat off of him and his team.

Will Dani really get her job back? I guess we'll find out next episode. It was weird for Acevada to just tell her it was in the bag like an afterthought. Plus, she'll still be wary of Mackey hanging her out to dry (she has to suspect that either Shane or the blonde guy slipping the knife to the guy who knifed scarface). Will Julien's display of excessive force come back to bite him in the butt?

Last night's episode featured a horrible speed-up when Julian was chasing the guy. It looked so awful.

It was interesting to see Guillermo Diaz (Scarface in Half Baked) in a non-comedic role for a change.

You know this was the first ep of the shield I really did'nt like all that much. There's not one episode in any of the last two years I've felt this way about. It was'nt a terrible ep just felt kinda flat to me...
