According to Amazon, April 29 is still the release date. I've been dreading a delay but so far the date still holds.

With the price now soaring to $179 it looks as if Amazon are frantically trying to recoup some of the money they have obviously lost with that incredibly low $74 offer.
This whole thing seems to be a terribly organised farce.
First up it was impossible to find on the Amazon site.
plus, What are we getting? What is the correct price? What is the correct release date? Why is it an Amazon exclusive?

But then again at the end of the day, does it all truly matter, as long as we do finally get new stunning 1080p Blu-ray versions of these R&H Treasures.
I just pray they get that part right.

    Doug.

Yeah, I'm glad I took the chance of pre-ordering this ASAP, especially with the new price Amazon put up. I'm still more worried about the packaging, hoping it's not as bargain basement as they appear and that the cardboard sleeves aren't too much of a pain.

I have my fingers crossed that Amazon's April 29 date holds. We have a movie night in the Booth Bijou Garage Theater scheduled for May 4 and I'm hoping to show Oklahoma!Edit: Now that I think about it, maybe Amazon's "exclusive" is getting a one-week jump on other retailers? The press release doesn't mention Amazon and it's hard to believe Fox would skip the chance to sell this in Walmart, Best Buy, etc. Mark

For now, it looks like it is still an Amazon exclusive.

Yes, I asked the reviewer about it today. I already have the big box of junk version so I doubt if anything new will be on it that I don't already have.

Will, I feel the same way, especially after reading what Robert Harris wrote in his thread about the premiere of the restored Oklahoma! at the TCM Film Festival. Should be a dynamite looking blu-ray.

Just rechecked my pre-order for this set and it is still listed for $74.99. That big noise everyone heard was a huge holler of relief. I usually don't pre-order this much in advance but I got caught up in excitement. Thanks to everyone that.

Well it is French Quarter Festival this weekend and after an hour of Irma Thomas belting out her classics, bar-q shrimp Po-boy, smoked turkey leg, chargrilled oysters and crawfish in lobster assume I didn't think I could ever holler again. But time to do a repeat today along with a crawfish backyard boil. But it's one more day closer to the release date of of the collection.

No one but Amazon has the set listed as a preorder, not even Fox Connect. I think it will be an Amazon exclusive for more than one week. As for the date of release Amazon is not known for updating release dates when there has been a change in a timely matter. Amazon has, in the past, shown an item as being out of stock, when it's release date has been delayed but Amazon didn't update its release date listing. That said, unless there is an error in the press release, May 6 seems more likely since that date is coming from Fox. In any case we will know soon.

Rats! I somehow missed that mention of Amazon in the press release. Double rats, that probably means that May 6 is the actual street date, not April 29. :(

Rats, rats and double rats. We had planned an early showing of 'Oklahoma!' at the Woodend Roxy, just as soon as it got shipped in from the States. A week;s delay (unless Amazon is right about April 29) is going to be INTOLERABLE!
Getting Oklahoma! and Carousel in one package is the closest I'll get to heaven.....

The version of the 1945 State Fair I saw on TCMHD a couple of years ago looked pretty stellar, without any major color fringing or image damage present in most Fox 3-strip titles. It was actually one of the better looking Fox Technicolor transfers I've seen them show. I sincerely hope it did get the treatment that titles like Leave Her to Heaven and Blood and Sand received.

Is Oklahoma! going to have a re-release in theaters? After such an expensive restoration, it's a shame only select group of people (at the TCM film festival) will be able to see the true results. I'm sure the blu-ray will look great, but Oklahoma! should be seen as originally intended.

I thought it might be fun to scan a few pages of my parents' Oklahoma! souvenir book that they have had since they saw the film in TODD-AO in the mid-1950s. Back when going to a movie was a major event.

You can bet the price will come back down again, if not sooner than most definitely later, perhaps as a 'Lightning Deal' or part of the Black Friday sales.
