It's the same disc, both PAL

One thing I have noticed is all the people calling it "Ringu". In Japan they use an alphabet called katakana to write foreign words which APPROXIMATES the proper way to say it. So it's always "The Ring"

Neither are correct. There is no official version that I know of that is Region 0.

Actually, the Tartan release (the first link) is indeed a legitimate Region 0 release. Most if not all Tartan releases are R0. I'm not sure about the other one.

The Tartan release is generally considered to be the best version with English subs so far.

This probably should be in the Regional DVD section.

Is there an NTSC DVD of this film with English subtitles? I'm multi-region capable, so that's not a problem.

    Jeff Kleist,

When you say they are the same discs, do you mean they are both the Tartan release, just with a different cover?

So what is the absolute best DVD release of this movie and best place to get it? I am in Montreal, Canada and have region free player that can do PAL to NTSC.

If you have an HTPC, or are fluent in Japanese. The Japanese disc is the best

If you have neither of the above, get the Tartan

FINE FINE FINE! OK. The CD-Wow version is the Australian PAL version distributed by AV Channel.

It is legit and came out recently. I haven't seen any reviews of it though. It Region 1,2,3,4,5,6 (not R0) but close enough. 91 Minutes. Anamorphic and Stereo.

With English Subs there are only two legit PAL DVDs and no legit NTSC DVDs (i.e. those pesky E-Bay Bootlegs).

The Tartan PAL R0 leave A LOT to be desired. Maybe I'll pick up the OZ disc just to check.

Region 0 is also known as "All Region" or "region free"

    You can play it anywhere

But, why would you want a bootleg?

Anyways, about all regions etc.. The Ring won't play in

    Region 07 (Reserved)
Region 08 (Int'l Venues, Airplanes, Cruise Ships)

But will play everywhere else that is PAL compatible.
