Absolutely love this movie. A favorite of mine and my dads. For $11.25 it's a steal even if it is bare bones. Great news on the OAR was in a panic when I went back to Amazon and saw nothing on whether it would be widescreen or not.

Just re-iterating the last question, any details as per the title being anamorphic?

Wait, didn't Dick Tracey not mention 16x9 on the box but it turned out to be..?

Here's hoping...

No, unfortunately it's really non-anamorphic, as I posted before in the thread.

"Smoke" (which is a Special Edition, no less) and "Green Card" seem to be the only Buena Vista catalog titles this week that are anamorphic.

Non-anamorphic?! Damn it, Disney! I had this one preordered already cuz I assumed they'd at least get that part right. Studio of the year, my ass!

Well crap. If that's the case, then I'll just stick to my laserdisc.

Ack, how can they do this?

Almost seems a sure bet that anything being released nowadays will have an anamorphic transfer.

Guess not.

It's a shame that not only is the transfer non-anamorphic, but there are no extras to speak of. Where's the alternate, not-so-happy ending? Or the kickass teaser that hyped a Christmas movie coming out in the springtime? I can understand if the disc wasn't loaded with features considering the director passed away a couple years ago, but they should've at least made an effort.

In case you haven't noticed, Disney isn't putting effort into any of their "Movie Showcase" releases. Well, maybe a few here and there (like the Red/White/Blue and MAR Muppet releases), but for the most part, not even the trailer. Lame.

What a Dissapointment. Disney should be ashamed. This is in the mail to me because i heard it was at least Anamorphic. I've been purging all my Non anamorphic films. In 2003 all films should at least have a Anamorphic transfer as minimal requirement.

The Miramax titles this week seem to have more effort put into them. Not only are we getting the "Red/White/Blue" trilogy, but "Smoke" is anamorphic and a special edition w/commentary, deleted scenes and more.

The only BV/Disney DVD this week that seems to be anamorphic (and also has remixed 5.1) is "Green Card". Maybe that's due to some involvement by director Peter Weir, who knows.

Man, they're really making us work to enjoy this release. Bare-bones and non-anamorphic? I hate it when the best thing you can say is "at least it isn't MAR".
