I don't know if this has been covered yet. If it has, mods, please feel free to delete this thread. But is anyone else repulsed by the promos for this show? Is nothing sacred anymore? What in the world makes this the "Real" Gilligan's Island? This proves that TV producers will desecrate anything they can get their hands on. The only thing I got from the promo is the theme song set to a guitar riff sung by some idiot dressed up like Gilligan w/ brief shots of actresses portraying "Ginger" and "Maryanne" in provocative positions. The original and only Gilligan's Island holds a very special place in American TV history - it is the "Real" Gilligan's Island. I hope this new show dies a very quick and embarrassing death.

Funny and true, Tony. This isn't "The Fugitive" or "I Love Lucy" that's being 'desecrated' here...believe it or not, some critics (like TV Guide's Jeff Jenkins and Fielder Cook) STILL maintain that "Gilligan's Island" was actually one of the WORST TV shows ever made.

That's not exactly 'sacred' intellectual property.

it's ok so far. i guess there will be more challenges in coming eps.

one of the skippers seemed to have a nearly died during the challenge as he collapsed on the beach.

i have to say that both of the mary ann's are very nice to look at,(hot).

hmm, also alot of gay bashing by some of the castaways

They air two new episodes every week? I guess I am not too used to seeing that... I watched the majority of the first episode, it definatley appeals to me, because the original show is a personal favorite. One of the millionaires is just obnoxious, and it was funny seeing her get in an arguement, only to be saved by a turtle .

This show is great. The first Minnow of castaways definitely got the better cast. The other gets high points for potential trainwreck situations though. :)

Something strange about this reality series is that in a way you already have a repour with the cast because of the original show. Hard to explain but you kind of know how each character should act and you immediately connect to them when they do act that way. Some examples:

Gilligan stumbling when they first arrive.

The first night in the hammocks, complete with the "g'night little buddy." :D

The millionaire couple (the nice ones) dressing up for their dinner reward and the comment, "the next time I'm dressing up in my tux."

Mary Anne giving a massage. Ok maybe it doesn't connect so much to the original, but damn does that answer the age old question "Mary Anne or Ginger?" :b

I did feel bad when the first Skipper fell. He seemed like a pretty nice guy. Shame he had to leave early.

And would someone please drown the obnoxious wife. One of the few times that you wish you could reach into your tv and slap someone. Oh well, makes for good tv.

I wasn't thinking too much about this other then a rip off of Survivor usuing GI characters.

I watched and was laughing like crazy.

Eveytime Gooner as Gilligan is in a scene you can't help but laugh.

I was impressed how Rachel Hunter grabbed the bowl of worms and sucked them down in the challenge. I might have been able to eat some of the stuff on that table but the worms, well, I don't think I could do it.

This show has been a guilty pleasure for my wife and I. Definitely turn your brain off at the door material.

well it's over and they plan on a second series. Why? I don't know. The millionaire won and i had invested no time in this series only the one day marathon tbs showed the whole series and i must say the millionaire winning was very lame. He was smarter than anyone else. Wow what a blatant ripoff of survivor good grief.
