    who put out that set?
I thought it was Artisan and I asked for the one from Artisan for Christmas and when I opened up the present to see it, it's the 3-disc box set with Stallone on the front firing a BFG.
Also, I realize that the one with the ugly box art is the best but how does this one compare to it?

I'm not sure which box art you consider to be "ugly," so I can't tell which one you're asking about. Anyway, Artisan put out both boxsets. The older version has full-color box art and 3 discs. Each film has anamorphic widescreen transfers, 2.0 surround track, a commentary track, a trivia game, and a documentary. The newer set has a silver box and contains 4 discs. Each film has an anamorphic transfer, DD & DTS 5.1 tracks, a commentary track, and a documentary. The 4th disc has more bonus features, which I presume are mostly more short documentaries. The version of Rambo III in the newer boxset is missing subtitles for Russian dialogue. Those subtitles are, however, present on the disc in the older boxset. I picked up the old box at a cheap price a couple of years ago, and given the subtitle problem, I'm quite happy to stay with it and don't plan on upgrading.
    I hope this helps.

Damin nailed it. I will add that, on the newer version, the individual cases are red, white, and blue (go figure).

I myself got the old box set (outer slipcase is mostly black, right?) long before the new version shipped, and decided against upgrading. There's really no reason to, unless you just have to have that 4th bonus disc.

Yes, I think the 4-disc boxset is just one huge fold-out digipack type of deal, not individual amarays.

I meant the 4-disc set but I guess they're both kind of ugly.
Subtitles aren't really an issue for me so I'll probably go with the 4-disc. Thanks. [IMG]
