I just watched the Piano LaserDisc yesterday. Wow! What a surprise! And a very colourful transfer. And that amazing glorious active PCM sound. This has got to be one of the best LD made! I also have the DVD of this I bought many years ago. I know it's an older R1 DVD and everything but I think the LD is much better in the sound and PQ bc of compression. Let's hope that there is a new anamorphic DVD transfer soon.

    I agree 100%
The dvd has very poor compression (Both pan and scam & widescreen crammed onto one side) and brittle sound quality. But like a fool, I sold off my LD about a week before the dvd was released [IMG]
It saddens me that this is owned by Artisan as their track record is very uneven, But I would love to see a new remastered version, as The Piano is in my opinion the finest film made in the 1990's.

Are there any other release? Maybe other regions that are better? I bought the Widescreen LD for $4 brand new sealed. That was a worthwhile upgrade![IMG]
