Let's hope MGM issues a statement soon updating us on whether or not these are the same discs repackaged or if they are newly authored discs or if the package contains additional supplements. At this point all we know is that a complete box-set is coming out.

Perhaps MGM is aware of all the problems customers were having, as in indicated in the thread below, and that is the reason for a new edition? Or am I being too optimistic?

Too optimistic. It's just as Craig stated--I'd stake my recently released 3-CD OL soundtrack that NOTHING has changed.

By now you can pick up the original season sets on ebay for a little over half the price and the 3 volume sets from various e-tailers for around 2/3 the price. This makes no sense at all. And the worst of it is, should sales be rather lackluster for the Nov. 4 set (as they logically should be) it makes the likelihood of a future properly re-mastered, single-sided disc set with the extras that "The Outer Limits" deserves that much more of a dim reality.

Michael,

What I wouldn't pay for a set like you describe here. Some day, if I get the equipment to do it properly, I am going to burn a set from the double-sided disc set just to have it on better-layered single-sided discs.

Rick,

I understand. It took me three tries to get a set that worked. Such a shame for such a landmark series.

I agree too about the single-sided DVDs. The only exception I have made to this recently has been with The Waltons. So far, so good. On the other hand, I have refused to purchase additional sets of other series that are double-sided (e.g., one of the seasons of Columbo). I did read that with Columbo, they went back to the single-sided DVDs, however. Wasn't it only one season of that series that was double-sided?

Yep, just season 3 of Columbo, after that Universal dumped the DVD-18s. You are safe to buy the other seasons. I did, you cant go wrong with Columbo!

Rick,

Okay, thanks. I will probably bite the bullet on that one season, and eventually pick them all up. :emoji_thumbsup:
