I just got the new MGM R1 edition of the British movie 'The One That Got Away', and noticed that there are are three or four moments during the film where there is a strange jump cut within a shot. It looks like a clumsy edit each time, but I checked the R2 edition and these cuts are not present on that version. In effect, a few frames appear to be missing in each case where such a cut occurs.

Has anyone else noticed this and can anyone suggest an explanation for it? It's something I've never seen on any other DVD.

Why did you buy this title again?

I usually prefer Region 1 DVDs of feature films as, being NTSC, they run at the correct speed. In many cases, they are also superior transfers. I think this is actually true of 'The One That Got Away' except for these curious and annoying "jump cuts" (which really appear to be missing frames).
Do you have any idea what the cause of this might be?

Due to http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvdsavant/s2589away.html the MGM DVD edition is sourced from a HD master by Deluxe Digital. Meanwhile the film is available on region-free Blu-Ray in Germany licensed from an HD master by ITV http://www.amazon.de/Einer-durch-Blu-ray-Hardy-Kr%C3%BCger/dp/B003MDHO10/ref=sr_1_2?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1375376942&sr=1-2&keywords=einer+kam+durch

I'd like to know if the German Blu-Ray and the US region 1 DVD are based on the same HD master. Her are some screenshots of the Blu-Ray:

Do you have the timecodes of the three scenes of the MGM DVD when the jumpcuts occur? Does anybody knew if the master of the region 1 VCI DVD edition http://www.amazon.com/One-That-Got-Away/dp/B007HS8WFS/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1375377197&sr=1-1&keywords=one+that+got+away is identical to the MGM DVD?

Can anybody post screenshots of the MGM dvd?
