I used to take care of a tomcat years ago at an apartment complex I lived in. He was a major tough guy. I think I was the only person who was allowed to touch and pet him. I felt sorry for him, so put out food and water, but he did fine on his own.

Looking off the back of my deck one day, he caught a mouse and literally bit it in half. He ate the head portion first, then the other half.Whatever I provided was just a bonus, he took care of himself.

^^ Oh, no  Tom & Jerry does not get along.

Well my cat didn't lay on his spot on the back row seats for months even after I covered it with carpet tiles he still wouldn't lay down behind the back row.

Mine is house-cat. He does bring me things like tissues now and then as he likes to play fetch like a dog. Or....

We're picking up three kittens tomorrow, giving them a foster home for a bit until they get adopted. I don't know what we're getting ourselves into :) hopefully our two cats don't freak out.

That's the plan. They'll get their own bedroom for at least a week.
Check for fleas as mother daddy cat might have been out-door-cats and might have some.

Quick way looking thou everyone has there own way?

Check with bright LED touch look around the face near to the ears under the fur.

If you see any get the StrongHold flea drops ASAP! Isolate both cats for a few days until the treatment takes affect. otherwise they'll get everywhere.

I had to deal with fleas on my cat last and took me 5 months to get rid them, Not seen one since.

Good tip. Fortunately, they've been checked out, spayed / neutered. I've been informed we're taking them for the primary foster family, who's going on vacation. It's a two week gig at my place.

^^ very true. :)

My dad's cat "Mow" tortois, she was a stray and my dad/step mom, took her in some 14 years ago. She mostly wonders around the garden and stays out a lot during the summertime and has home to come too.

Anyway, WRT the comic above I always say "Be yourself. Unless you can be Batman, then be Batman". But a cat would be good to. Too =p
Catwoman: Catwoman: "I don't know about you, Miss Kitty, but I feel so much yummier".

Sam 2001 - 2014
Sam and 5 other 4-6 month-old kittens arrived in our family. They came from a collector’s house. They were very malnourished and ridden with fleas. The first vet to see them said they probably had fip. The second vet said “whoa, lets see how they respond to antibiotics, vitamins, and good ol’ fashion loving. They responded.
4 of the 6 were adopted and we adopted Sam and Ginger. The two have been lifelong pals.
Sam was always a shy and very sweet cat, which is an endearing combination. Early on, Sam became our spooner. He would spoon with either my wife and myself, almost every night. I was expected to sleep on my right side, otherwise Sam didn’t think it worked right. He always got his way.
Early on, Sam was diagnosed with early-onset renal failure, which is something that happens to most cats, but it usually doesn’t begin until the cat is at least 10 years old and later. It is a very common cause of death in older cats. The best treatment is daily sub-q fluids. Sam ended up getting them 2xdaily. Hydration is a wonderful treatment, but it’s only a treatment, not a cure. To benefit Sam, it had to be done every day, twice a day. I did it with love for all these years.
Then he started having seizures, years ago. We got them under control with phenobarbital. Then he had hypertension, controlled with another RX. Then irritable bowel syndrome, treated with RX’s and diet.
Sam had a lot on his plate, but he continued to relish life and to generously give us his love. Oh, was he a loving cat.
The past year we could see him grow more frail. He would have an occasional bout of being unable to walk. These occurrences became for frequent, but he always recovered, and in our judgement, he was still enjoying life. This post month, the frequency increased and we started to brace ourselves to make the decision.
This morning he couldn’t stand and an hour later he still couldn’t. That was new. Perhaps if we had waited he would have recovered. But he would have had more. I did not see pain in his behavior or his face, and I’ve seen it in old cats before. We decided, before it gets bad, before there’s more than discomfort, we must say goodbye. Our feelings don’t count, only his.
We wanted a house call but couldn’t do that, so we took him to the vet for our last moments together. We stayed with Sam all the way. Stroking him, telling him how much we was loved. Telling him not to fear. The last thing he saw, felt, and heard was me. That’s the way it should be.
For the past 13 years, Sam had spooned with me and now that’s over. I doubt I’ll sleep at all tonight. I worry about Ginger, her best friend is gone.

I've shed a tear for Sam. I wouldn't be able to sleep either. I wish you and Ginger well. You and your wife did the best, with tender love, for Sam. That's what counts. And your sweet memories.
