I guess you can ask people at Disney or BV about releasing items. I know people who go to D23 find reps all the time and corner them on such things.

I'm not sure there's anyone specifically at DMC to go through since most of their reps are Customer Service people and not in a place to decide things. Contacting DMC on Facebook (??Patricia) and at least you could put a request in not that it seems to do a lot of good.

I did read a post a couple years ago or someone who grabbed a VP he had met in the past and had a notebook full of information. Apparently he got an hour of facetime and the VP actually got copies of his papers with requests on certain items, hopes for certain type extras, etc. I do think that meeting had some effects b/c I swear several the Top 10 suggestion eventually came to pass - espe that group of exclusives that started with Saludo Amigos, Parent Trap, Freaky Friday. Holes etc. Maybe coincidence, but it was suspicious

I don't really do Facebook, but I'm sure you can get Google to help. I think Patricia may be one (or more) of the reps that hangs out and answers questions there.

I see a Contact Box on the right side of the page. I know people that have had problems with shipments or orders have used the page to get decent results

I just ordered The Black Hole and that completes my commitment. I'll cancel and wait again for more exclusives to pile up and then join again. Pretty good deal if one follows the advice here.

    Pretty good deal? Tough crowd

Just in case -- I suggest waiting until the disc arrives befire cancelling. I've seen some folks cancel as soon as their order is placed, but if there is an issue with the order or disc then trying to get something fixed on a closed account is a major pain.

Anyway - if you have some stored DMR points you may want to check the DMR site since they are having a massive sale on Discs. I've seen a few items on sale, but never so may discs at 60-80% off the usual points.. You can amplify the saving, but using the 1000-1200 points just from your DMC cycle. I think the sale ends Aug 15

1st pics of the back cover (not mine)
    DTSHD MA 5.1 Audio.

    Waiting to read 1st reviews.

Issue 1 -- No overture and the Runtime is 1:35:18 instead of 1:37:46 like on the Anchor Bay DVD
I'm not sure if this will be considered an error by Disney since the cover states 98 minutes, but I do know some folks are going to be very unhappy. To date I've not know Disney to do replacement discs fro their exclusives if it is considered an error.

Issue 2 -- BD25 and not 50 like was initially reported.

Oddity 1 -- the overture is actually on the disc. I can get to it and play it on a PCBD player but not my main player(s) so there appears to be some sort of branching there, but how to get to it? Nothing in the Menu allows an alternative playback or Play with Overture. Nothing in the options appears to activate it.

Maybe somebody going to D23 next week might ask one of the higher ups who know such things if this was intentional

Oops. I guess that would be an authoring error. Since it's actually on the disc, then they obviously meant for it to be accessed as an option for playback. By the way the overture is on the streaming version.

I had heard it was on the Digital/Streaming copy which why it shocked me when it didn't start up.

It really confused me when I saw teh BDInfo and it listed both versions -- one as Title 3 and the other Title 100. I don't have a code breaker so I can't run a full bitrate scan, but here's the partial

If the seamless branching is already built into the disc but they just forgot the "play movie with overture" button on the menu, it still be possible to play back that option by navigating the disc another way. On my Sony Blu-ray player there is a button called "options" and when you press it a menu slides over the screen from the right and you can navigate to "title search" which may or may not allow you to pick a specific title on the disc.

I've locked up my Sony twice trying to find some button combination that works.
So far, not found anything on the OPPO nor LG that allows it to switch.

I tried to go through the scene selection, tried starting Chapter 1 and backing up.
The Disc Menu shows Title 1/1 and no optional Angle. Nothing hidden under Language, Audio or Subtitles since most of those have 0 or 1 selection.
I'm at a loss where to go next - not that it's even all that important to me, but just b/c it's a mystery to solve

Ah, too bad. I was hoping there was a way. I guess until they offer a replacement(?), it will be necessary to play the overture off the digital file then switch to the Blu-ray.:(

What do you guys think the chances are Disney will correct this apparent error and/or offer replacement discs? btw It may help to bring this to the attention of someone like Bill Hunt at the Digital Bits site (I would, but unfortunately my email's screwed up right now)

Hard to know. To date they have offered replacements for a couple items with error (little Mermaid, Pinocchio), declined to replace others (Beauty and the Beast), denied others things are even errors (Lion King, Sword in the Stone, Fantasia, Jungle Book)

To date none of the exclusives have had issues where it's even been brought up

If they decide to replace it, great I'll order the discs and if not I don;t think I'll lose any sleep

JZSYK I've edited my post for clarity. How much clout do you suppose someone like Robert Harris, or even the film critic Leonard Maltin (a Disney historian who's appeared in many WD docs and featurettes) would have with the studio suits/ division heads?

Certainly a bit more than most of us would, but these days I'm not sure anybody like 1985 Maltin or Ebert exists that has any real power.
If one of those folks decided to make a huge public stink at a D23 Event it might get a bit of traction, but I neither think they would nor honestly should go to the mat.

I;d rather them do something like get Fantasia released/fixed, get the rest of the Canon released. If they really try to edit Dumbo then that's a issue to go nuclear on and not the overture for The Black Hole which to me falls somewhere around the missing RKO logos and different logo on this release vs the last/other release or the editign of the changed of the 3rd revised end credits of TS2

I stand to be corrected but Disney never bothered to give us the longer version of Bedknobs And Broomsticks that was on the DVD, just the theatrical cut which is why I suspected the Black Hole blu ray wouldn't have its overture. I also suspect if the unlikelihood of The Happiest Millionaire getting the blu treatment, the overture, intermission and entr'acte would also be eliminated. These Disney exclusives are bare bones.

Yes, yes, I know the BH overture is there "someplace" but if it's not accessible. I think I'll see how this plays out and will hold off on ordering it for awhile. It's not going anywhere.

Is the extended version of B&B available to stream in High Def? If not, perhaps this version requires expensive restoration/ cleanup which just hasn't been performed or greenlit as yet? Could this also be the case with THM?
If lack of overture on TBH is simply a unintended glitch, which it appears to be, I think Disney would at least want to be aware of it (if they're not), ofcourse.

Not anymore, with the sole exception if you owned it on iTunes prior to August 12, 2014, you still have access to that stream (which I do).

Will be purchasing this soon as part of my last purchase under my current DMC agreement before I flip DMC memberships again.

Wondering what title I should buy at full price to get the big discount on TBH and maybe one other. Avengers:Endgame (2019) on 4K perhaps ( I have yet to watch a single Avengers film though I have Avengers: Infinity War (2018) from a previous unordered DMC mistake).

That's a tough one as the first Avengers is available on 4K ... but Age of Ultron (the 2nd Avengers film as well...)

I don't think the Live action Aladdin would be a good option. I tried to order it in 4K at either price-point $34.9X without DVD and $39.9X with a DVD and it still would not flip the "regular" price K to $17.9X. Also, Aladdin live action is a pre-order and that could delay the order.

Unless you have to go 4K you might want to get another $24.9X exclusive or non-exclusive blu-ray...
