Any word on season 2 of this great show? I saw it on BBC America and it was even better than the first season. I can't wait to own it, and more importantly, to share it with some folks at work!

Yeah, it's a great show - Gervais is a legend! No word on a series two release yet though, there's nothing on the press site at least. The first of two Christmas specials is broadcast tonight in the UK as well - the last two ever episodes. Pretty sad to see a great show like this coming to an end so soon [IMG] You could always order the region two or four copies of Series 2 if you can't wait, I imagine the region one release will be identical.

Personally I think it is a good thing that "The Office" is ending after the two Christmas specials today and tomorrow because comedy can become very stale if it goes on too long. "Fawlty Towers" only ran for 12 episodes and Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant have used this as their template for not allowing the show to go on beyond the end of it's natural life.

Series 2 didn't quite have the same 'snap' that the first one had, but was still really funny. Brent's dance (a fusion of Flashdance and "MC Hammer shit") is hysterically cringeworthy. I think half the country will be tuning in for the Christmas specials tonight and tomorrow.

It was a lot more depressing than Season 1. The ending caught me off guard. Who knew Ricky Gervais could do drama? Hopefully the Christmas special gives the series a nice wrap-up. I didn't like how Season 2 ended with none of the story threads resolved.

BTW, anyone who has a region free player should not only get Season 2 of The Office, but also Ricky Gervais' live show, Animals. One of the greatest "lectures" I've ever seen. [IMG]

Incidentally Gervais is over-seeing the production of the american version of 'the office', with a whole new cast and everything. Didn't they learn anything with the US version of 'Coupling'?

Oh dear, having just watched the first of the Christmas specials I think I'm going to have to retract my comment about it going before its time. That episode was pretty awful, easily the worst of both the series in my opinion. All the location stuff seemed completely out of place. Anyone else think the same or am I alone here? [IMG]

No, I agree Tom. Nothing in that episode tonight raised more than a brief smirk here. Hopefully tomorrow's will be better.

Are these Christmas episodes taking place after season 2 or sometime during the run of the series, like flashbacks?

I'm sure the US release of series 2 won't be far off.

Animals is hilarious. The section on gay animals is pure gold. There's some great asides, too: "I have to say, World War 2 - not my favourite war. If you must know: The Falklands... Vietnam: Best soundtrack." [IMG]

    "I don't see myself as just a boss, I'm more of a chilled-out entertainer."

I still can't believe that book he was using was actually real. And with illustrations no less. It's a great show, although that section with him graphically describing animals having sex is something I could've done without. I still can't get the words spunk bomb
out of my head. That's right up there with some of the worst two word combinations I've ever heard.

Afterwards. It's as if the 'documentary team' went back and visited the Wernham Hogg some months after the close of season 2.

Now I'm gonna have to retract my retraction [IMG] The final episode was a hell of a lot better, easily one of the best episodes. Must admit, I almost had a few tears brewing in a few places! They could have finished everything with just that episode though, the last episode just felt like padding for the hell of it. Overall though [IMG]

Agreed. The penultimate episode was just short of depressing but the last one more than made up for it.

    Spoilers ahead:

Nice to see Dawn FINALLY get rid of the neanderthal and go for Tim instead. Also nice to see Brent finally talk to an attractive woman without humiliating her or embarrassing himself. Shame for Sheila though!

Any word on when the good ol' U.S. of A will get to see these episodes on BBC America?

It was the perfect ending for this series. It resolved all of the storylines that were left hanging in Season 2. And it was great to see a certain obnoxious character get what he deserved.

    Hey

Warner have announced series two of The Office for the 20th April with the retail price set at around $24.98. A double pack with series one will also be available for $54.92. Extras will include a video diary of the making of series two as well as outtakes and deleted scenes. The outtakes are hilarious as well - I've got the region two copy. Great stuff. Anyway, artwork is attached below:

I'm still not sure from the "other" thread, but are the final (Christmas??) specials going to be on this release? If not, I wonder how I'll get them on Region 1? Yes, I have a multi-region player too, but it's not nearly as good as my Region 1 player, and Series 1 was of fairly good PQ compared to what I'm used to on TV sets...

Oh sorry, is there another thread about this? I did have a quick look! And no, they aren't included I'm afraid - it's exactly the same as the region two release. We're not getting the Christmas episodes in the UK until Christmas now, it was going to be easter but it was put back by the BBC.

You're kidding. Why the delay? I was really looking forward to getting that DVD.
