I found this from E's Kristen's weekly chat. I'm so excited we have a date!!!!

The DVD is coming out in October, and on it, McG gives us a behind-the-scenes tour of the real Orange County. They'll also have commentary, deleted scenes.

I am pretty sure tvshowsondvd.com made it known awhile back that it was coming sometime around october. So we still don't have a release date. I am sure an official announcement isn't far off though.

    22 eps on 3 discs?

It says they will be in anamorphic widescreen but I doubt the quality will be that fantastic with the compression that high.

There are 27 episodes in season 1 so i think it would be around a 5 or 6 disc set. That is just a guess on my part though.

Warner has taken to using double-sided discs on TV product, but I've never seen them do more than 4 eps of an hour show per disc, so 3 discs still wouldn't be enough for 27 episodes.

Well, they use them on some shows, but it really depends. Nip/Tuck, Gilmore Girls, Smallville aren't DVD-18, and somehow I think this may fall into the same category. I expect it to be on 7 DVD-9 discs.

At first I thought the suggested retail price was a bit too much for this set however, comparing it with other Fox releases, this set is a much better value since it contains 27 episodes. However, I'm worried that they are packing too much on 7 discs.

    Thanks for the news.

I hope its not one of those fold out packs like Buffy. It'd take forever to open that thing.

Lorenzo, its a Warner Bros release, not Fox. But yeah..

Awesome. I'm interested in any details on the complete extras when they're released, and I really hope they keep it in 480p widescreen, like the digital broadcasts. While this show may be a guilty pleasure, it's not because it sucks. I scoffed at the previews all last summer, then found myself hooked after giving in to curiosuty for the very first episode. Viva the Gallagher eyebrows (in HD this fall)!

I'm hoping the aspect ratio info is wrong. WB has been pretty good when it comes to providing 16:9 transfers, even when it's not the OAR like Kung Fu and The West Wing Season 2.

Plus, I remember Without a Trace Season 1 being announced as 4:3 only to be corrected a week later.

WTF? It was aired in Fox Widescreen! I know they think they're pandering to a less HT-savvy crowd, but unless it's Josh's intent, that's just ignorant. Adam, I hope you're right.

Actually, I just spoke to someone in the production office and he said the first season should be full frame and the second season will be finished for widescreen.

So, although the show is protected and aired in widescreen on the HiDef channel, the producers of the show want the first season on DVD in full frame.
