I'm not sure which studio to request this one from.

Here's an undeniable classic that has not yet been given the special edition it so richly deserves. Its hauntingly beautiful gothic imagery needs to be immortalised in the same way films like Casablanca and Robin Hood now have. It's influenced everyone from Scorcese to Spielberg, and has been hailed by many critics.

I beg you to consider THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER.

    It's a MGM title.

    Thank you.

Now how can I edit the thread title to say 'MGM'? Or maybe you could do that, since you're an administrator?

...and Charles Laughton's only directorial effort. And, it has been said in numerous accounts that Laughton did not like children and pretty much had Mitchum directing them. Why he chose this film to direct, then, is beyond me. But it is a rich and scary and atmospheric film that cries out for a better transfer than the one given in the first release, plus supplements. I'd bet Scorcese would even contribute a commentary... or Ebert or someone.

This is one of my favorite movies!

I agree that this movie is extremely deserving of a full blown restoration and SE DVD!

    Please!

There's a feature length documentary including loads of bts footage and deleted scenes knocking around. I haven't seen it but it's occasionally shown at places like the NFT. Its inclusion on any DVD release is an absolute MUST !
