Don't know what to make of this. DavisDVD posted this from this Sunday's Best Buy ad. It's different cover art exclusive to Best Buy.

I imagine reaction to this art will be negative (since it doesn't really fit the nature of the film), but truth be told it is a more attractive cover (artistically). It doesn't look all "photoshoppy" or anything. I'm a bit torn, however - I like how the other art showcases what the film is really about - but this one just seems more attractive to me.

    I dunno.

    Interesting...

I don't buy many DVD's at all on release day (or week) but I loved this in the theater and will be picking up ASAP.

    "I dunno"

I agree. I also don't really like the generic "photoshoppy" covers most DVD's have, and I like that they're trying to do something a little different here.... but.... you'd think they could come up with something a little better since there were so many beautiful images in the film.

    Interesting...

I work at Best Buy. That "exclusive" art is really just a slipcase. The actual case art is the same as everywhere else.

That's a damn ugly exclusive, but since I have no intentions of buying any version of this film, I'll quietly make my exit now...

    looks good.
    i'll pick this up.
watching it now as a matter of fact and popped in to see if there was a review yet.

    nope [IMG]

i'm watching with the tosh hd dvd player.
    this looks beautiful upconverted.
there were some iffy moments near the beginning concerning EE especially
around the edges of the mast and sails of the ships as they arrive to shore.

as the movie goes i didnt notice the EE as much.

    the sound is great.
there is tons of sound effects from all around, birds, wind, rain, water.

i watched with the sound off for a few mnutes and i didnt feel as if i was losing anything as far as storytelling was concerned.

I love this movie, it's nearly hypnotic.

What's the attraction to lenticular covers? I'm not getting on your case for liking them - I'm just wondering why alot of people do. I personally find them a bit tacky. I got the one for HP: GoF and kind of regret it. I'm personally glad this one isn't like that.

Already bought on amazon. If this had actually been a valuable exclusive, I might have considered another purchase.

The New World is the best film I have seen in several years. It's about all I can say.

Ugh. The cover makes The New World look like a generic action film rather than a transcendental Terrence Malick film.

I'm still gonna get it Tuesday. [IMG]
