I've started watching this Region B Blu-ray release, and it is SUBLIME! The picture quality on my 65" LG OLED is gorgeous and rich with dizzying detail, and the 5.1 soundtrack is thrilling. I highly recommend this release if you have region-free capabilities and any love of Russell, Glenda Jackson, Richard Chamberlain, or Tchaikovsky. I hope KLSC or Criterion will eventually release this in the States. Maybe BFI can finally wrangle a release of THE DEVILS... Don't miss this superb release of THE MUSIC LOVERS, an unorthodox, intoxicating, dizzying, and rhapsodic meditation on the life of the great composer that could only have come from the fevered imagination of Ken Russell.

There is a hypnotic quality to this film when seen as beautifully presented as it is on this BFI restoration. Spectacular images and music contrast with sequences that are every bit as disturbing as train-wrecks you cant look away from.

It is hard to resist watching this film multiple times because of its hauntingly beautiful imagery, so the commentary seemed a logical way to view it again. Unfortunately the commentary is not so much about the specifics of Music Lovers as it is a retrospective of Ken Russell's career.

Music Lovers is definitely not for everyone, but well worth the purchase if you can handle the sequences containing disturbing content.

Yes, a lovely blu-ray release. Beautiful, crisp and sparkling master, courtesy of MGM/UA. Stacked with supplements too.
