Anyone who doesn’t think Steve Martin is one of the funniest fellows on the planet should have his head examined. As The Man with Two Brains, madman Martin is just the guy to do it, playing Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr, famed originator of screw top, zip lock brain surgery. The good doctor pines for his late wife – but slinky siren Dolores Benedict (Kathleen Turner) sashays into his life and changes all that. They’re soon married, but the truth quickly emerges: Dolores’ beauty hides a calculating heart of stone. The situation is hopeless – until another brain specialist’s oddball research offers a bizarre ray of hope. Anyone with half a brain will rejoice in the sheer lunacy of this sublimely silly farce, directed and cowritten by frequent Martin collaborator Carl Reiner (The Jerk, All of Me).

Great news. This and strange brew were probably our most quoted movies amongst my friends in college. So many great lines.

Whew! I almost picked up the MOD that the Archives recently put out. Glad I waited. Very funny film with one of Sissy Spacek's best performances.

Into the mud, Scum Queen!

The film is chock full of quotable lines, & very funny, all of the time. It's the only one of this batch I'm interested in.

With this announcement, now everything I've bought in the past month either on DVD, digitally, full priced BD or as a region-locked import is now being announced on US BD or announced to be on sale. You're welcome! :D

But this is actually great news!

Watched this last night and all I can say is WOW!

Way funnier than I remembered, hadn't seen it in probably 15 years.

But more importantly it looked amazing. When I upgraded to a 4k tv a year and a half ago I had fun revisiting a lot of old blu rays. But lately I've watched so much 4k content, streaming and disc, that the wow factor of uprezzed blu ray had kind of worn off. But this disc was special: so much color, really popped, and so much detail.

And while I hear grain discussed a lot and described sometimes as velvety, ive never been able to describe it well myself. But on this disc the grain level is absolutely perfect. To my eyes this felt like a film being projected on my screen instead of a video incarnation of film.

And did I mention how funny it still is?
