The Longest Day (1 Viewer)

Watching the Region 2 version of The Longest Day, the parts of the film in a foreign language are not translated by burnt-in subtitles. Has anyone else noticed this with either the British Region 2 version or the Region 1 copy?

The Region 1 version has english subs during the foriegn speech. However, they are not "burned-in" on the film, they are in the lower letterbox bar, but they are not player generated.

NOTE TO FOX: How about a nice new anamorphic transfer and 5.1 remix for The Longest Day? One of the greatest war films and we get a non-anamorphic image with a weak 5.0 mix? I would also like to see the english subtitles burned-in on the film portion, like it was during its theatrical run.
