The current Disney executive team is catastrophic concerning what they have in their vaults let alone what they have in the vaults of 20th Century Fox. If it is not going to make them a quick billion they are not interested. They probably have never heard of The Longest Day let alone of Daryl Zanuck or any of the actors in it.

It is waxy in appearance but still not too bad I suppose.

Sorry but it is VERY bad. In fact it is so bad that it is most often cited as the poster child for denoising / grain reduction gone wrong.
So bad that the not very good DVD actually looks better to some people as it is low-rez but not fake looking.
So bad that Disney could re-release it and claim to have animated the whole movie scene by scene.

OK, enough with that as even Fox was less concerned and now passed the issue on to Disney.

Disney own this movie now so they are not interested in releasing anything back catalogue on BD/DVD or CD.....or so it seems. Their top executive management team are a strange lot.

Yes indeed they are a VERY strange lot. A big back catalog of non-animated movies may be news to Disney so hopefully they will at some point adapt the way they handle it. And if they don't I suggest to keep the Star Wars and super hero stuff and then sell the rest.

Just wish KINO could get Mickey Mouse to open the vaults! Shocked that Disney let the AFI use clips of Sounf Of Music and Poppins!

I don't understand why they wouldn't if they're not going to release them themselves. Why not get the licensing revenue? I highly doubt classic live-action film on boutique-label 4K disc is going to make any measurable cut into streaming revenue...

Because Disney really does not care about its consumers and the films sadly will rot away

Also Disney are carrying an eyewatering amount of debt, over 45 billion dollars, so making a bit of money from their back catalogue really is chickenfeed to them...I wonder what Walt would have said?

Walt and his team created the wonderful world of Disney - Iger ruined it remeber the days when their animated classics sold 13 or 15 million vhs tapes - all they need to do is just let third party step in it would also take the grief off of them if people get mad of politically incorrect films coming out

Disney has licenced out their Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures titles to Kino, so it’s possible they’ll do the same with their Fox films in the future.

If Disney were to license out Fox's library, Kino could get some, but majority of the of classic titles would most likely go to Criterion.
Kino has a far larger output than Criterion. So depends what you mean by classic i guess. The marque titles perhaps, but sheer volume?

IMO, Fox Western Classiques goes to Kino Lorber, Fox War Classques goes to Criterion. both boutique studios get their fair share of projects, and when comes to boosting sales, they could combine what they have and push out MEGA Boxsets.

That sounds good to me, I'm not a fan of either genres too much; but there are some films from those two genres that I will watch when they're on TV though.

If you have this on Movies Anywhere stream it there best quality version available. Slightly better than the Blu-ray mess.
