The current DVD is excellent. It hasn't looked this good since its original release.

Agree with Thomas T - the transfer is outstanding. It looks extremely film-like, even on my front projector. The audio commentary seems to be pretty good from the few minutes of it I sampled. This is a must-buy, especially for the ~$15 street price!

The current DVD is outstanding. It looks and sounds better than the laserdisc by a very wide margin. The commentary is a nice supplement. The only thing I miss from the laser is the isolated score, but I would strongly recommend this disc for purchase to anyone who likes the film.

    Regards,

The laser disc also has some brief interviews,
so it is a nice addition, but definitely get the DVD.

And you thought that Ozzy has a messed up family?

Agreed. An astonishing film-like image on a large screen projection system. This is the way all "catalog" DVDs ought to look.

OK, I'm just piling on here, but if you love the film don't wait another second - grab the DVD. This is one of those amazing transfers of older movies (like North By Northwest) that just blew everyone away when it came out.

Great praise! I'll pick it up this weekend. I caught it on TCM the other day and I had completely forgotten what a tremendous film this is. I'm glad to hear they were able to give this the kind of DVD it deserves.

    Thanks.

The DVD also contains a Director's commentary, which is pretty rare for an MGM catalogue title.

    Get the DVD.

I wish all of MGM's releases were as good as this one.

One of my favorite films (saw it at the theater with a University History Professor who knows a thing or two about the middle ages and he gave it a 'thumbs up' for authenticity).

One of my favorite DVD's for the transfer and the excellent screenplay and bonus commentary track.
