I don't see why. Because they are all just two icons. One off and one on. The moment your browser downloads the two for a topic, that's it! It's not like it's going to actually download it for each reply!

He doesn't mean download time, but page space. I agree. It did make the post space area larger. But, now with the icon in the post bar, it's much better.
