It doesn't make sense to keep bumping the DVD release thread to talk about the show, so here is your place to talk about Theodore Cleaver and Co.

Shocking moment tonight. Wally had a bad time at school with his new mustache, so he ran in the front way and up to his room. Beaver said, "Maybe he's being chased by a gang who saw his mustache and thought he was Hitler!"

Was thinking about buying this set for myself and looked at it on Amazon yesterday and today but for some reason it was removed for a complaint? I am hoping I can get it on a good sale before Christmas but may have to wait until afterwards? Have been wanting to buy it for years. Our local networks seem to rotate shows so I am never able to catch it when I am home on TV.

Having "cut the cord" recently, checking out the OTA shows. Lots of oldies like Leave it to Beaver, The Brady Bunch, Adam-12, Emergency and others. I remember being a kid watching those shows, some in syndication, some still new at the time. But fun to see some of that stuff again.Did a quick search on the Eddie Haskell character a few weeks ago. He was apparently so stereo-typed, really never acted again.

I'm not sure what kind of complaint Amazon got , but I found the set to be excellent - one of the best TV series collections ever. Critics Choice Video has a 25 % off sale going on, so you might find a good deal on LITB.

The cool kids left on account of the bug in the ice cube, the rubber cheese in the sandwiches, and the blinker on the record player. That'll teach 'em for not inviting me!

I'm declaring Monday the start of Burt Mustin week. Was he better as Gus the fireman or as the son of a man killed by Jesse James? "He was a mean, dirty killer! A mean, dirty killer! A mean, dirty killer." :)

Too funny. I was just getting an image of him to put in the thread. He was, after all, the star of episode #1 "Beaver Gets 'Spelled." :D

Burt Mustin must've been born old as dirt.

    Let's see...

    2-8-1884 to 1-28-1977!

    Mike,

Over in the Star Trek Trivia (Series and Films) thread, FanCollector and I have had a running gag about Bert Mustin. It seems that Mustin hardly aged at all. And it also seems that he was nearly the same age in everything he appeared in!

How did the other favorite character actor of my youth--Allan Melvin--never end up in an episode of Beaver?

Melvin was probably too rough and threatening for the Beaver. Every time he was on TAGS, he was the guy who was going to beat up Barney.

While watching some "old TV " on DVD this past weekend , I spotted a couple of LITB actors : Rusty Stevens in an episode of Shirley Temple Storybook Theater called Madeline , and Ken Osmond in an episode of Wagon Train also featuring Patty MCormick.

Was Ken giving Ward Bond the business? "Gee, Major Adams, that's a nice rifle you're carrying!"

Ken played a wimpy character , McCormick's brother . It was a small part , but interesting to see Osmond in the period before Eddie Haskell became a prominent character on LITB.
