This film contains what is probably my favorite 'early' Nicholson performance. ( Chinatown is arguably a better film, but I tend to prefer this performance due to the dynamic nature of Nicholson's Buddusky. When I was in my early twenties I was pretty good friends with a guy who reminded me a lot of Buddusky. )
This is a terrific feature and is a wonderful example of the gritty aesthetic that informed a lot filmmaking of the early '70s.
