Could anyone owning the recent R1 release of "The Knack ...And How To Get It" confirm whether it is an anamorphic transfer? The original aspect ratio is 1.66, and most of the studios seem to have wised up to the fact that this allows 16x9, but The Knack seems to be listed as letterbox only.

MGM does not do anamorphic transfers for 1.66:1 films.

I have this DVD. It's not anamorphic. It's widescreen 1:66:1.

Here is the exact wording from the disc:
"The Knack...and how to get it" is offered in the widescreen format, enabling you to experience the picture exactly as it was originally shown in theatres. Depending on how the film was shot, the widescreen format presents up to 50% more image to the left and right of the screen than the standard "pan & scan" process, thus preserving the director's vision of each scene. Black bars at the top and bottom of the screen are normal for this format.
