Denis Leary fans, it's time to celebrate, as TVShowsonDVD.com has announced that all 19 episodes of "The Job" will arrive on DVD in May from Shout! Factory.
Practically every single one of these episodes is a gem, especially "where Denis' character, Mike McNeil, tries to quit drinking but gets hooked on a Nyquil-type cough medicine instead, and walks around with blue-green lips during the episode.

Some other favorites:
"Bathroom"--McNeil is trapped in the men's room with an escaped prisoner who speaks only Spanish; McNeil has to go to the bathroom, too--REAL BAD, if you know what I mean!

"Barbeque"--McNeil's partner, Pip, throws a barbeque that turns into a gross debacle of booze and brawling. McNeil has to keep his girlfriend and his wife from meeting each other.

"Vacation"--McNeil takes a vacation to FL with his girlfriend, and his jealousy, plus a really bad sunburn, ruins everything!

"Quitter"--McNeil gets hooked on Viagra (nuff said!)

Great stuff, and long overdue! Fans of "Rescue Me" who never saw this show when it aired on ABC will definitely want to check it out...

Fantastic! I can hardly wait! I loved the episodes I caught when it ran a few years ago but it'll be great to finally see those that I missed.

I loved this show but didn't see every episode when it first aired. It'll be a definite purchase for me on release day. Hopefully Leary does participate in the DVD along with the rest of the cast and crew.

I can't wait. Love Rescue Me (and No Cure for Cancer) but never heard about The Job until last year.

While I can't stand some of the product they've put out, Shout! has certainly become one of my favorite distributors for realeasing this, SCTV and especially Freaks and Geeks.

Really enjoyed this one during its run on ABC. I have long been looking for this to show up on dvd.

I really enjoyed the "Bathroom" episode referenced above. Very funny. Laughed so hard I missed the next few lines after that scene.

Is it possible that "The Job" is a US only release? Very few Canadian etailers seem to carry it and amazon.ca only has it as an import.

Very possible. The show didn't last very long, and somehow I doubt Leary has a huge international following, so I suspect the series never aired outside the U.S. Not much chance that non-U.S. markets will support a DVD release of a show that nobody saw the first time around.

Dunno about Canada, but it certainly aired on German TV. Never could bring myself to watch more than a few minutes though as it was dubbed, but I still saw enough to know that I want this set.

Denis Leary = :)

Can't wait to get this and "Rescue Me"!

Too bad they couldn't get pal Elizabeth Hurley on the commentary track for "Elizabeth".

The gag reel should be fun.

For those interested in both shows, TV Shows on DVD has updated their Rescue Me page to include details on the extras that will appear on the set.

Is it May yet? :)
