Well, with Sony supposedly buying MGM and blending it into their Columbia/TriStar studio system (I guess there won't be any new MGM films, because it may cease to exist except for the catalog that Warner Brothers doesn't control), expect Bond on Blu-Ray.
A number of commentators have speculated that Bond and the rest of the MGM library could decide who wins the BluRay-HDDVD format war. That's why Sony wanted it so badly. I would expect the Bond films to be an early entry into the war, obviously on the side of Blu-Ray.
Are the OOP single discs easy to find? I want to buy You Only Live Twice, but Fry's didn't have it. Before I start going to other stores, I want to know if it would even be reasonable to expect to find a copy.
For a second there, I thought I could help you. A local store has new copies of the following:
DR NO From Russia with Love Goldfinger You Only Live Twice Diamonds are Forever The Man with the Golden Gun The Living Daylights Goldeneye Tomorrow Never Dies
That doesn't help you though. I'll be stopping by another retailer this weekend that has a very good selection of OOP titles. I could check for those titles if you'd like. Let me know.
I let my sister borrow my copy of Die Another Day a few months ago and she never returned it. I don't really miss it. I don't think you'll have any trouble getting that one, whenever you decide.
Is it a national chain? I'll check Circuit City and Best Buy tomorrow for You Only Live Twice, but I might ask if we can work something out if they don't have it.
Dude, e*bay's gonna have it, I was just waiting to hear what the new set was gonna hold. It sort of pisses me off that they have mixed the contet of the box sets to vary from the box sets prior to the re-release. Damn you capitalism!
Ernest, I was going to tell you to check Ebay and the private sellers on Amazon. Since you mentioned not having them yet, I just figured you had no luck on there or didn't like buying on Ebay or from private sellers in general.
I feel for you on the box sets and the lack of certain titles being hard to find outside of them. It stinks for the person who just wants certain titles. Capitalist fat cats.
Count me in that group of people who needs select Bond movies, but not wanting to double-dip on half of them to get the box sets.
I believe the ones I need are: From Russia With Love You Only Live Twice Diamonds Are Forever Man With The Golden Gun For Your Eyes Only Octopussy A View To A Kill Living Daylights
I invested alot of money on all of the Bond DVDs when they first came out years ago...I will be damned if I do it again until the next generation versions.
The only one I might pick up would be the better version of my favorite Bond movie- Live and Let Die.
