Ted,

I'm not totally sure. It may be a driver he had specifically made but don't really know. I think he called it the G2 or something. He may be able to give you more information.

Bill, Bill, Bill. Please. You're wasting space with all those gaps between the circular drivers. You need to find the DIY ESL page and figure out how to use that technology to triple your radiating area.

Well here is just a thought, they are redoing our sewers here and they are using 3'-4' concrete solid tubes, now add a basement below your ht room say use 40 of these tubes and add like 40 cerwin-vega Stroker 18" drivers with 40 1000 watt mono block amps and fire those puppies up in to your ht room floor, sort of like the sono tube idea but to an extreme bass monster would invade your house and your house would probally fall apart after the first bass note.

like a bomb shelter.. lol...

Dan,
Regarding the bass line array:
Just as soon as you point me to ESL technology with at least 10mm Xmax...;)

This just hit me. Hugh Hefner leaves me the Playboy mansion. I git rid of all those gold-digging, money sponge beautiful women, and turn the best two rooms in the place into acoustically perfect ultimate HT and stereo rooms and have meets there every weekend for all the DIY-ers on the 'net.

Well, I know Hank pretty well. And although he's a bit of an old geezer he still likes the women! The advent of Viagra has done wonders for him! ;)

Given my skills, that LAB horn would be an "insane" thing I'd like to try. I also have a large attic eave that I'd like to use with an IB.

Jack,
I had lunch with Greg Monfort on Friday and we were discussing horns, among other things. Let's just say that my head still hurts! :)

Well, my current dream system I'd like to build and likely never will, would consist of 7 Unity Horns with a different compression tweeter allowing them to get up to 107-108dB/W/m sensitivity and still have some serious power handling. Then I'd build an appropriate driver and folded horn design to handle the midbass and act as the stand for each of the 7 Unity Horns (again 107-108dB/W/m). Finally a massive bass horn buried in the ground in front of the basement dedicated hometheater room with a bunch of 15" or 18" drivers capable of keeping up with the Unity Horns (the horn mouth would tie into one of the corners using the front wall and a side wall to continue the horn). Granted this could just be a silly idea as I really know next to nothing about horns or compression tweeters :p)

Oh and the room would be completely sound proofed and full of appropriate room treatments to make it require minimal equalization.

Buy land next to the Bill Gates estate.
Dig an underground tunnel bass horn underneath
his estate, tuned it to 1hz.

Turn up the tunes at night in burps!

heheheh

Yeah, Greg thinks on another plane, don't he? Tough to keep up. Did you guys model lunch extensively beforehand, or did you just go ahead and order? ;)

Jack,
We just dove right in and ordered! When those folks behind the counter scream at you, "Whaddaya have, Whaddaya have!" you don't hesitate! We had lunch at an old Atlanta landmark; The Varsity! Or as my wife calls it, the "Greasy V"!
Greg explained the concept of the Unity Horn and how it works. Made it pretty simple for someone that knows nothing about horns. Don't ask me to regurgitate any of it though! :)
