OK,this isn't exactly FANTASIA but it's still a fun animated film and Mark Evanier at his POV website http://www.povonline.com/News070102.htm reveals that Don Knotts has just finished recording the second audio commentary track for THE INCREDIBLE MR. LIMPET DVD.

Don Knotts commentary? I think the only thing scarier would be Don Knotts' voice in 5.1. Talk about insta gotta-grab! [IMG]

Have this on LD. Now if we can only get Universal off their butts and release How to Frame a Figg, The Reluctant Astronaut and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

The Incredible Mr. Limpet on DVD???! I am SO there! I will happily give up my laser disc for a DVD -- with commentaries, no less!

This was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid.

What is the correct aspect ratio, by the way?

Wasn't there supposed to be a remake starring Jim Carrey? And they spent a million in make-up tests or something like that... and then they cancelled the project?

Correct aspect ratio for this film = 1.33:1.

The Incredible Mr. Limpet is most likely an open matte film, which is to be matted to 1.66:1-1.85:1.

1.78:1 should be fine for the film.

Great to hear that Don Knotts has provided a commentary. I have never seen Limpet so seeing it for the 1st time on dvd will be a treat.

And if I can go just a little OT:
Knotts is getting up there in age--what an opportunity is being missed by whoever the hell owns the Andy Griffith Show and apparently has no plans to release it on dvd. Would be wonderful to hear commentary tracks with Andy and Don on either all the AGS episodes or at least on choice ones. But it seems all we'll ever get are those public domain episodes..I just ordered the Brentwood set which is reportedly very good and has all 16 PD eps uncut, no bugs/logos and with original theme song. It's just a real shame that the greatness that is the black and white Andy Griffith Show is mostly MIA on DVD.
