I know it's probably not on anyones Top-10 most wanted list, but does anyone know if this silly movie is going to make it on DVD? I don't want a special edition or anything, just a regular-old DVD will do just fine.

Does anyone else out there enjoy this movie? It's silly, but it's fun.

Yes, actually I have read many posts on the forum over the last two years with people demanding this title to be released. Its a cult fan favorite anyway. The VHS was OOP, and there are some LDs floating around out there. I got an LD on ebay for 30$ last year, so at least I can watch it.

This one will cause a big buzz when announced its the finest of cheeses.

    Indeed.
I predict a minor Krull-like groundswell of cult fans swooning over this one once it hits DVD. It's definitely a fun little movie and I'd add a copy to my collection!
(You want really sad? I'm still hoping for a Scavenger Hunt DVD!!)

Yes, I want both Ice Pirates AND Scavenger Hunt.

In fact, I just mentioned Scavenger Hunt in a different post yesterday. It tends to be on my mind; it's a great little flick, isn't it?

Don't know about "Scavenger Hunt" (could be with Anchor Bay), but I do know that...

"The Ice Pirates" is now in the care of the vault known as Warner Home Entertainment.

I want to see this on DVD. Great performances all around, and Bruce Vilanch (yes, that Bruce) delivers a great comedic performance.

I caught it on Encore last month, and I loved it.

    Sincerely,

John "It had cool special effects, and a great wardrobe, too" Kilduff

I love this film and watch it whenever it's on cable. Also saw it on it's theatrical first run. Fun in the light and goofy way that lifts your spirit.

My hopes for this movie on DVD sank when it was mentioned that Warner owns the rights to this movie... Just might have to look for the LD version of this one..

Is the laserdisc release by MGM/UA pan & scan? From what I can tell, it is. If so, is this the only version?

I don't want the movie unless it's widescreen.

    Thanks.

I actually saw this movie in the middle of the night in Turner Classic movies. Not what I would normally consider TCM material, but it was really fun! TCM showed it in 4:3. I am in no way an expert, but to my untrained eyes, the framing looked good? No obvious cut-offs, but maybe more head-room than strictly necessary? There was no technical details on imdb, so I have no idea how it was filmed, or if it even was in theaters.

I too like this movie, it's a cult classic. I caught some of it recently on the dish during my lunch hour. Chris that space herpe is hillarious.

    "What is that thing?"

    "Uh, it's a.......space herpe."

    Classic.

Count me in on this one. I love this little gem of a film. I saw it for my 10th birthday w/a bunch of my friends and we had a hoot.

I would not hesitate picking this one up.

Anyone know the OAR on this? I don't want it P&S'ed. Plus, with the unfortunate death of Robert Urich, perhaps this title might come under consideration for release.
