By the end of the 1950’s, John Ford had established himself as one of the greatest directors in the history of Hollywood. He had already won an unprecedented – and still an Oscar record to date – 4 Academy Awards for Best Director and was still making great movies, with The Searchers (1956) becoming one of his best known masterpieces. Ford closed out the decade with The Horse Soldiers, his only film dealing with the Civil War. Previously released on Blu-ray by MGM, Kino has licensed the movie for a brand new Blu-ray release.

This movie has been a favorite John Wayne movie since I was a kid back in the 1960’s. Therefore, my movie rating is a 4 on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the best. I agree with your grades for the Kino Blu-ray. A fine job by them!
