Where to watch

Can’t believe there’s no thread for The Goonies here.

I’ve always loved this movie since I saw it in 1985. Nostalgia has only increased that love.

I’m about to head out to the 40th Anniversary Fathom event.

Hopefully the reports and rumors about a sequel in development aren’t dead in the pirate waters because as you know….Goonies Never Say Die!

As the resident Goonie of this forum (ten years in the East Mooring Basin baby!), I can say with complete authority that this film is pretty hilarious in its many, many, MANY logic holes.

Just got back from a pretty packed 4:30 show here on the East coast with a winter storm going on.

The crowd loved it and even applauded at the end.

Leonard Maltin presented the film with a short 5 minute introduction. He looked very frail. The DCP looked like the current 4K release and sounded terrific.

The Goonies is one of, if not my favorite movie. I had tickets for last nights 7PM Fathom Event but life got in the way, as it often does, and I had to cancel.

The Goonies is a favorite film of mine too from my childhood!
I just sold my most beloved/precious steelbook of it

in anticipation of a new 4K release for its anniversary this year (or I'll just buy the current 4k plain-case release, if nothing packaging-worthy is released)

Loved it as a kid, but as an adult I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. I do still get a kick out of Anne Ramsey as Mama Fratelli, though: "The only thing we serve is tongue. Do you boys like tongue?"

Love this movie. I’m hoping against hope that the rumor of a long term sequel is false. I hate the idea, as it could at best only dispel the magic of the original film.

Given the bank being made by recent sequels to non-sequeled 80's hits, I'm not sure the studio can just let these IP's gather dust forever if there are potentially hundreds of millions of dollars to be made.

That’s what I’m afraid of.

I hadn’t seen The Goonies in a theater since its original release in 1985. I’ve seen it on video countless times since but was amazed to catch so many things I never noticed before.

For instance little expressions and background actions by the characters which were magnified on the big screen.

Fun time.

I caught it tonight. Good to see a non-amblin amblin movie. With the exception of Feldman the child cast members have done very well with their lives.
