'The Good Shepherd' (Netherlands BD) - how is the quality? (1 Viewer)

'The Good Shepherd' was released on Blu-ray in the Netherlands at the beginning of 2008. So far, this is the only BD edition that I'm aware of. I'm thinking of ordering it, but first I'd really like to know whether anyone who has obtained it could comment on the technical quality. In particular:

Does it have a lossless audio soundtrack?

Are all subtitles optional when watching it with the original English soundtrack?

Any information would be much appreciated.

I don't think it should be recommended to you. According to a review, the picture is upscaled from a PAL source to 1080i. So you get a crappy picture, and PAL speedup to boot.
It does have DTS-HD MA, and a standard Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Subtitles are optional. These are the extras:
• Featurette "A Look Inside"
• Behind The Scenes
• Interviews met Cast en Crew
• Trailers

Not very much. So I'd wait for a proper release if I were you.

This seems like a shoe in as a tie in with the Bourne Trilogy or the new Matt Damon/Paul Greengrass movie, the name escapes me at the moment, so I would just hold out for a domestic release, which should come out next year I would imagine.

Thanks very much Brian - that's exactly the kind of information I wanted. I will certainly wait for a better release. I'm surprised that a major movie has been released on BD with PAL speed-up - I thought we were done with all that when Blu-ray came along!

Yeah well, it's released by Dutch FilmWorks, who released crappy dvds (no extras, wrong aspect ratio), and now crappy Blu-Rays. Most of us in the Benelux just avoid anything this company release.
