I was waiting for an HD release of this title because it contains one of my favorite Thomas Newman scores but was disappointed by the audio quality of this 4K/Blu-ray release. I decided to do some testing by playing sections of the film turning off some of my speakers at various times. Then to double check, I connected the 5.1 analog outs of a blu-ray player into the 6 channel inputs on my multichannel interface to my computer to look at the resulting wav forms.
I'm now convinced that the L/R surround channels are incorrectly swapped with the L/R front channels. During normal listening the center channel is carrying all the normal level material but the L/R channels are very weak and the L/R panning of the orchestra is missing. I tried loading the End Title music into my computer patched "correctly" then switched the L/R front with the L/R surrounds and loaded it again. The so-called surround levels are much louder than the L/R fronts in the "correct" version and the front image is center heavy. When swapped, the balance across the front three channels is correctly balanced and sounds like a correct orchestral spread. The picture shows the End Title music when the channels were patched so the surrounds were input to the L/R and front channels were input to the LS/RS. Also, there are places in the film where elements that would normally be surround activity are in the front channels and if you turn off the fronts you hear activity that should be in the fronts that is heard in the surrounds instead. Disappointing error. The score doesn't have the prominence it should in the film, except in the center channel.

Interesting.
When looking at the wavegraph above,
There is no real audio coming from the LFE channel, which is not uncommon
However, the decibel level of the center channel seems to be extremely high for a 5.1 mix.

The surrounds and front channels look just about right
But that Center channel, that's not front heavy that center heavy.
I can see why you would be disappointed.
Edit, addition:
Just to clarify, the soundtrack/score…
That is playing through The Center channel?

To clarify the picture I posted: this is a transfer into my computer interface of the End Title music as an example of what I considered an issue for the whole film - front L/R channels swapped incorrectly with surround L/R channels. Yes, the picture looks correct and plays back sounding correct - but when I transferred it for this load-in, I patched the Front L/R channels into the surround input and the surround L/R channels into the Front input. So what is labeled L/R in this picture are actually the surround channels and what is labeled LS/RS are actually the front channels from the disc. And yes, the LFE is inactive as some music mixers don't like to use the LFE for music.
