Were the dvd subtitles for The Godfather films video generated? They are in a slightly different place on the full frame versions airing on television. Also, the letters seem to not be solid, having what appears to be NTSC artifacts.

They're actually part of the image and non-removable. Nice font and coloring, unlike the video-generated subs on The Passion and the Star Wars films.

Okay. I was just wondering since they are placed lower on the screen on the versions on t.v. The font is the same though. Its just that they have some "jaggies" around their borders. I agree that they look nice.

Well you gotta remember that the tv versions of the first two Godfathers were made from open-matte interpositives which probably didn't have subtitles to begin with. There was probably a decision to maintain continuity between both movies as well.
