The following is just my humble opinion. Take it for what you want.
So I have been thinking about this for a while and my theory seems to keep proving itself over and over. Let me know what you think.
Glen Ballard + Lousy song writer(good singer)= magic
Glen Ballard + Good song writer(good singer)= Bad idea
    Examples:
Alanis Morissette's (spelling) first album Jagged Little Pill was written largely by Ballard and this album was great. Her next albums she split away and have largely been crap. Example, lines like "inner posse" in her new album.
Lisa Loeb: First album was overproduced but still had a unique flavor that worked. Her new album largely co-wrote by Glen Ballard is tough to listen too. Bottom line, is she already had the goods and should have continued to refine her own style.
Dave Mathews: Almost all of his works are great by anyones standards. His new album co-wrote by Glenn Ballard was generally considered a let down.
    Any agree/disagree? Any other examples?

As a fan of DMB, I consider Glenn Ballard to be the anti-christ. [IMG]

That "inner posse" line was hilarious. Easily the highlight of that song.

I'm with Ron Reda on this one.
Wonder what a Glen Ballard / Diane Warren song would sound like? [IMG]

I kind of like the sountrack to the movie Titan AE, which I think he had a very large hand in.

    IMHO, of course.
