Douglas Bailey's post about "Happy Birthday" reminded me of something that crossed my mind a few weeks ago when I watched a newly purchased copy of "Paint Your Wagon." Early in the film Lee Marvin sings (to use the word in its loosest sense) the tune "The First Thing You Know." On the DVD it almost sounds as if the orchestra is playing a totally different song! The accompaniment doesn't seem to fit the vocal portion at all. I used to have a copy of the soundtrack album on vinyl, and I do not remember it sounding this way. Does anyone know if the music has, in fact, been changed, or is this just another case of my ever encroaching senility.

Are you sure that isn't just Lee Marvin's singing?.. :)
