Sorry, about half way through my post I thought I recognized this name, so I went to the Pacific Family Home Entertainment web site and found out they are their sister company. I sure hope they do a thousand times better than P.F.H.E.did on this movie!

    Thank you

Unlikely, it's probably just a rehash of the existing disc

Japan has an NTSC version with an anamorphic transfer that looks good from the screenshots

Jeff, do you remember where you saw those screenshots? I can't find anything at my usual haunts or google.

Just checked out the link and it says the subtitles are "fixed" so it looks like you can't turn them off. Haven't had this on any R2 Japanese discs before and haven't seen the disc to verify.

Rex, I'm going to assume your Japanese is better than mine [IMG] I thought it said that you could tun them off

The Japanese DVD is cropped to 1.85:1, as those screen shots clearly show.

Screenshots on websites are not gospel, and Japanese discs are usually pretty good about OAR

Till we can find someone with the actual disc, take nothing as gospel

    Jeff,

Above the bitrate illustration it mentions:

    Žš–‹‚Í“ú–{ŒêŽš–‹ hŒÅ’èhi‚n‚e‚e‚É‚Å‚«‚Ü‚¹‚ñjB

΁Տ (kotei) means fixed and in quotes they have (Off ni dekimasen) so I took it to mean that they can't be turned off. But like I mentioned, I've never had any discs with burned in titles before.
Anyhoo....thanks for the link [IMG] and I'll probably wait for a price drop or when a decent version comes out in R1.

There was a whole thread on AVS Forum about the Japanese DVD. Roberyt George, who has the disc, confirmed it was cropped to 1.85:1. The screenshots reflect that.

If ever there was a film which Anchor Bay or Blue Underground should get their hands on, it is this one!

Maybe a nice 2.40:1 anamorphic version will turn up on region 2 sometime in the near future.

Are you sure it is the very-same disc as the Japanese edition?

And what's this "we" business? Do you speak for everyone here?! [IMG]

    Joking! [IMG]
