I just bought the 4K release on iTunes, sight unseen. Who knows if it'll ever get a 4K UHD disk release from Fox.

Just finished watching it again. And I must say I think I enjoyed it even more on my second viewing.

As for my wife. She really didn’t want to see this as she thought the trailers made the film look too dark and weird. I had to practically force her to watch it.

Well..she loved it.

She thought it was a very unconventional, funny and accurate depiction of what it might have been like during that era. Full of impropriety and naughtiness and power corrupted.

She was neither offended nor thought it was pornographic in any way.

Love my wife.;)

To those that have seen it already I do have a question.

Near the climax Lady Marlborough threatens the queen with the explicit letters she has written. A few scenes later Lady Marlborough is burning the letters and being escorted off the grounds. There was a scene in between with Abilgail and the queen where perhaps I missed something? Why the sudden change of heart?

Did I miss something?

We ended up watching Bohemian Rhapsody last night (loved it!), so I won't get around to watching this until tonight or tomorrow.

Only one person in this thread didn’t like it. I wouldn’t say that’s polarizing. Please check in here after you see it. I preordered it too and can’t wait to watch it again this Tuesday with my wife.
Per your request Tino, here are my thoughts... Well, it's certainly an interesting experiment of a film. The trailer made it look like it was going to be a sassy comedy, which it most certainly was not! It wasn't a very pleasant experience, nor was it meant to be. Yorgos Lanthimos was going for a disorienting effect (maybe to mimic Queen Anne's various medical conditions?) From the droning music score to the hallucinogenic distorted camera lens effect and even the unreadable end credits! He was going for something completely non-traditional and to that end I suppose he achieved his aim, but man was it a chore to slog through it.

Interesting. What made you think the film was an “experiment.” ? That’s a strange description implying that the director didn’t know exactly what he was doing.

I meant experimental as in using nontraditional and peculiar film techniques.
