I don't know if any of you have downloaded or upgraded the new 2.0 version of the Google Toolbar yet, but I highly recommend it. I had the older version for quite awhile and found it useful, but nothing spectacular.

The new version however, has implemented some very nice features. The two I like the most are the ability to customize it to have all searches open in a new window (or not)... very nice for keeping your place on a page, when you need to search for something else. The other, and for me the best, feature is the new pop-up blocker that is included. It works better than any pop-up stopper software I have used - in two weeks of using it, I have not had a single unwanted pop-up, and I can't think of a single link that I wanted to work that was blocked. However, it is also very easy to selectively block/un-block pop-ups as needed. For instance, if you click a link that opens in a new window but is blocked by Google, you can either CTRL-Click to open it this one time, or you can click the pop-up blocker icon on the Google toolbar which toggles on/off the feature for whatever site you are on... this works great!

Okay, enough sharing... now just go and download it! It's free!

You can always have searches open in a new window by holding Shift when you press Enter or click. That worked in the old version too. But the integrated popup blocker in the new version is nice.

Count me in as one of the happy Google Toolbar users! This is excellent! Makes searching a heck of a lot easier, and it bocks pop-ups! That alone should make anyone want it!

    Jason,

Thanks for the heads up. A welcome addition.

I've never used a popup ad blocker before, so the popup blocker is pretty cool as it informs you if the url you are browsing is on the list of "added" site popups allowed. It also seems there also are more options in this version. I like it!!

I've used Google Toolbar and Pop-Up Stopper Pro, and it's Google Toolbar hands-down.

Did you fellas get the version with the advanced features? Is the page rank thing the only thing I'm missing if I don't get the advanced version of the toolbar?

I always has the latest Google, and 2.0 is no exception. The Popup stuff is nice, the control-click's feature been in my Panicware Popup stopper for at least a couple of years, a very nice feature and I am glad that Google uses the same approach too.

    Greg,

I got the advanced version, because the privacy info stated that they never track personally identifying data -- what sites are visited, not who visits them.

I don't remember what features were removed from the other version.
