Anyone have any information on this 2-disc set yet? I saw it listed with cover art in my latest update of DVDProfiler. It says that it's scheduled to be released on 12/1/2002. I'm hoping that it's going to be the 25th Anniversary disc and TVYNS disc together in a 2-Pack. It lists the UPC: 53866 69459. And the SRP is: $30.98. If anyone has anymore info on this release, please let me know. Thanks. :)

Even though I already own the 25th anniversary DVD, I'd buy this if it is truly coming out. I know, I'm a sucker. :)

Thanks for the replies, so far it looks like noone has any info on this set yet. Finally was able to get my online DVDprofiler to update, so here is a link to the page about the 2-disc set. Maybe that will help someone dig up some information. Hmm, seems I can't put a direct link in to the page. Oh well, let me link up the images atleast. :)

I knew they'd eventually release this.

Will it have the "Fear of God" BBC documentary?

Or should I try to track down the 25th Anniversary SE disc? I've seen it around a few places, but for 20 bucks a pop.

Knowing WB, it will probably be the same discs, just tossed into a new package. Oh well, atleast it's a 2-disc set. That way I don't have to put up with a crapper snapper case. Warner Bros. get with it and ditch those never sufficiantly damned snapper cases.

I would buy this, if it had the excellent BBC documentary and if all the supplements from the 25th anniversary disc were on the SAME SIDE as the feature... I didn't realize how annoying flippers were until I got my changer. Although, I guess the 25th ann. disc isn't technically a flipper since it doesn't divide the movie.

Truth be told, I watch that documentary more than the movie itself (I don't think the movie has a lot of "rewatchability").

I think we're up to seven releases of Nosferatu (1922) with the BFI one in the not distant future making 8.

That statement doesn't make sense.

All of the titles that Warner has re-released as 2-disc Special Editions have had brand new transfers.

Looks like a homemade cover to me. I wonder if someone put one over on the DVD Profiler folks?

That release date looks fishy, too. If it's interpreted in North American format (December 1, 2002) it falls on Sunday and if it's interpreted in European format (January 12, 2002, which could be the date that the person who created the coverart uploaded it into DVD profiler) it falls on a Saturday.

I was wrong; Nosferatu has been released on DVD EIGHT times, but that still doesn't beat out NOTLD. Here are the releases of the 1922 Nosferatu (not counting the 2 releases of the 1979 Herzog remake):

1. Original release of David Shepard's version by Image (release date unknown)-grey cover
2. Elite-Masterworks of German Horror Cinema 2/22/2000
3. Image revised David Shepard version, from different source materials and with some different extras 1/2/01 - red cover
4. Arrow (Type O Negative score) 5/29/01
5. Gothic Industrial Mix (Music Video) 9/11/2001
6. German Silent Masterworks (Ventura) 11/1/2001
7. Reel Values Horror Classics #1 3/12/2002
8. Kino version 9/24/02 (available singly and as part of the German Horror box set).

NOTLD still looks like the champion, though, with a heck of a lot more than 6 releases:

1. United American 7/15/1997
2. Elite 8/6/1997
3. Master Tone 11/14/1997
4. Madacy 5/19/1998
5. Fright Night #1 set from Madacy 12/22/1998
6. 30th Anniversary (recut/screwed-with/footage added) Anchor Bay 8/24/1999
7. Vault of Horror set 1/29/02
8. Great Scary Movies set 2/19/02
9. Elite Millennium Edition 3/12/02
10. Reel Values Horror Classics #10 7/16/02

Image also lists a double feature disc with Sleepy Hollow High and another with Carnival of Souls, but I can't get at the information; if these exist that brings the total up to a dozen releases!

Actually, this will be the fifth dvd release because I already own four dvd releases of "The Exorcist" and no, I'm not buying another dvd release, but a future HD-DVD release is a possibility.
  • The Exorcist - Released 8/22/97
  • The Exorcist 25th Anniversary: Special Edition - Released 12/1/98
  • The Exorcist: Collector's Edition - Released 11/23/99
  • The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen - Released 12/26/00
