You have Malls Bigger than San Francisco.
As Herb Caen used to write, "San Jose next 3875 exits"

    Much to do about nothing.

Honestly I don't understand the title of the thread. So San Francisco is not the most populated city in the region, who cares? To the world San Francisco still is and will continue to be the anchor city of the region when it comes to tourism and public opinion. Furhtermore the general public will continue to refer to the region as the San Francisco Bay Area.

Well, isn't SF experiencing a population exodus since the bubble burst?

Pointless tidbit: Although "Yerba Buena" is the Spanish name for peppermint, its literal meaning is "good weed" [IMG]

Despite all this, there is no more cosmopolitan and sophisticated and lovely a city on this side of the continent than San Francisco. Now, if only there were more editorial gigs up there and a stable economy.

San Jose - home of the worst airport in the US... and this is coming from a guy who lives 2 miles from Logan Airport!

I've only been to SF twice, but I thought it was a pretty cool place.

There shouldn't be a Gap on the corner of Haight and Ashbury, though. [IMG][IMG]

heh. exiting the plane down the stairs to the tarmac at the San Jose airport was amusing. I didn't think commercial airports with more than 3 gates had such outdated facilities anymore. That was 3 years ago, maybe they've upgraded since then.

    Steven K:

TF Greene is probably one of the best airports in the country. More convenient for people west and south of Boston, but nonetheless.

Mark, TF Green is nice, and Southwest flies into it (as well as Hartford).

But, as much as I hate Logan, its location is so convenient for me. I live so close to it that I can sometimes see the air traffic controllers inside the tower [IMG] Even though it takes an hour, I can hop on the T and not have to drive, or take a cab. Since most of the flying that I do is from Boston->Memphis (for non-work related travel), Northwest flies direct from B->M for around $250 which is cheaper than Southwest Providence->Nashville.
