I was surprised that a search didn't bring up anything on this title. Just saw it on TV and it still looks great for a 1951 movie.

Anyone know how the DVD looks?

Excellent transfer. They did a good job with the restoration. Good extras on the disc, too. Highly recommended.

Thanks guys. I'll order it. I was surprised at how well the acting was done for 1951. The story has nice pacing. I guess after watching Terminator 3 it's nice to see a little more story and a little less special effects for a contrast.

    Dirt cheap to boot!

Might as well pick up a multiplicity of copies for family, friends, neighbors, and Gort's relatives. [IMG]

Deane, good acting is not a recent invention. Also in 1951, two of the greatest performances in film history, Brando and Leigh in Streetcar Named Desire and indeed, you can go back to the silents and see some astonishing performances. Maria Falconetti's performance in the 1928 Passion Of Joan Of Arc is one of the greatest performances in all of cinema.

Thanks for the links. I value Ron's reviews and don't know how I missed it.

The search thing has me puzzled. I tried again and the only thing that comes up when I do it is this new one. Doesn't make sense.

Jack Briggs reviewed the film not Ron. Jack himself is from outer space, you know. [IMG]

You'll love the disc, Deane. And I am heartened you are opening yourself up tor films that emphasize story over explosions and distracting special effects. Meanwhile, I have to return to the Mother Ship.

I'm suspicious that many others do also. Most everyone has it on backorder. Just went to Best Buy and they don't have it. I'm sure the internet site will get it replenished shortly.
