What happened to the scheduled release of Anchor Bay's "The Day After" about a nuclear explosion in Kansas and its aftermath? They released it on VHS with a promise for DVD and was once on their 2003 schedule but both are now MIA at their web site!

    Anyone... what is going on?

The film is about a complete nuclear war between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R., not just a solitary explosion over Lawrence, KS.

I'm interested in this title, too. Anybody have some news?

the brazilian release if bareboned and VHS in quality. I dont think its the extended cut either. I'd love this on DVD in widescreen, since I've seen the wide laser. MANY MANY shots were recomposed as well as panned for TV and video from the original 1.78:1

I have the Brazilian version & I'm glad I did not pay too much for it. I'd love a well done widescreen DVD version. If that is not a possibility I may have try to win a copy of the widescreen LD on eBay.

I'd like to see this movie on DVD, but if it doesn't happen, I guess it's not the end of the world... [IMG]

Actually, the laser disc was widescreen, with a ration of 1.75:1. Looked fine. I contacted Anchor Bay regarding this title and here is the "official" response:

"We are still trying to work on DAY AFTER however we don't at this time have a scheduled date set. Hopefully in the future..."

I had just asked Anchor Bay about this same thing a few days ago. According to AB, they are trying to acquire the rights to do this DVD. There is no DVD release date.

    Bummer.
